Day 5
Today I was able to use something that I had never even heard of before, fusible interfacing!!
Long story short, fusible interfacing is a super light piece of fabric that you add to another piece of fabric to make it stiff and easier to work with.
The fusible interfacing that I used required me to iron it on to each t-shirt. Since I've only done a little bit of ironing before, bring around the iron for that long was definitely different for me. But, I'm happy to say that after ironing 20 pieces of fabric, I think I've got the whole idea down now.
The ironing took me about 40 minutes all together. Today was fun because I finally used something on this quilt that I had absolutely zero experience with before. Now that the interfacing is on the shirts, it's starting to feel more like an actual quilt rather than just a bunch of scratch pieces of fabric.
I think that after today, having a thicker material to work with will make everything go a lot smoother, because that was one thing that has slowed me down the past couple of days, since the material will easily flop and move out from under you.
Anyways, I feel like I'm making good progress and that I can definitely meet my challenge of creating this quilt in 30 days!
