Day 7
Today was the day I got to start sewing!!
Because I have been spending so much time looking at these shirts the past couple of days, I already had an idea about how I wanted the quilt to look and the pattern each shirt would go in. So that allowed me to move straight into the part where I sewed the pieces together.
I was really nervous that I would mess something up, and after making it this far with each of the shirts, I really didn't want that to happen. So I had my grandmother over to help and lead me in the right direction.
I went row by row, sewing each square to it's partner. I messed up one time and accidentally sewed on square upside down from all of the rest. I had to cut all of the stitches out then sew it back on the right way. I'm actually kind of glad that happened to me because the rest of today I have been really careful making sure that it didn't happen again.
In the short hour that I worked I was able to get two rows done. At first it seemed like I hadn't really done much, but I had to take into consideration how little I've sewn before and the time it took me to fix my mistake.
I think the next couple of days, finishing sewing these rows together will go much faster, now that I have a good system and know which mistakes to look out for.
