Day 6
So now that I have a rough cut of each square of the quilt I need and the fusible interfacing attached too, I can start making the squares exactly how they need to be cut before I start sewing them together.
Two days ago, I was wondering why I couldn't just skip "rough cutting" the shirts and go straight to the step I did today, but after using the quilters square I completely understand. It's so much easier when you work with as little material as possible, so cutting of the excess shirt yesterday and making the material stiffer made today so much easier.
So, using the quilters square, I placed each shirt around it and carefully cut around the edges. The square helped me out a lot, and I couldn't imagine not having it.
I was able to cut all 20 of my shirts in about an hour today, so it wasn't that bad. Like the other day, I was still a perfectionist, which caused me to work slower than I probably could have. My grandmother also helped me today and showed me how to use the quilters square.
Overall, today was pretty straight-forward. After a while though, doing the exact same thing to 20 shirts does get old. I can't wait until I actually get to sew them all together, and it starts to look like a quilt!
